Our Citation Conventions

Citing sources is of incredible importance to us and will be implemented throughout our entire blog in order to build a solid case when arguing our points. We want to ensure nothing but honest, reliable data that will corroborate and give substance to the arguments we plan to present to our readers. This will present our readers with the ability to check our sources, follow our reasoning, and form their own opinions. In summary, presenting ourselves as credible bloggers is crucial to establish trust among our readers.

Keeping things easy and simple is our goal; therefore all citations within our blog will be implemented using hyperlinks to allow our readers easy and quick access to the material from which we are drawing. For material not easily accessible on the internet, parenthetical citations will be used in place of hyperlinks and can be found at the end of all posts. In conjunction with our unpretentious blogging style, we feel our readers will benefit most from this form of citation.

We hope that, through our blog, you will be exposed to topics of current research as well as unique ideas from a group of multicultural, multifaceted individuals. As science majors and future health professionals, we’ll be talking about subjects such as natural science and psychological behavior. Sabrina Dunham

I am currently a returning graduate student working to fulfill my dream of becoming a PharmD. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec to Italian parents, I am no stranger to differences in culture, especially that I now reside in North Carolina. What a change to go from pasta and soccer to grits and basketball! From working in the Criminal Justice field, to becoming a business owner and later a fitness and nutrition coach, one might say that I am well versed in different areas of life. My main passion though: Science! Some people would never peg me as the nerdy type, or perhaps they do and just don’t say it. In my spare time, I take interest in the wellness and rescue of animals, delve into research concerning religious mythology, psychology and its relation to societal morality, keep up with modern science and enjoy quality time with my husband and two dogs.


Bettina Nagy

I am a pre-dental Biology major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hoping to pursue the dental field to become the first professional, college graduate in my family. Being born in Hungary and having lived the first half of my life there, I have definitely endured hardships in finding my identity among becoming “Americanized,” while attempting to hold onto my Hungarian culture. Upon first moving to the United States, I faced many difficulties in academics due to my lack of speaking English, but one subject that always remained universal to me is science. I believe that science is the universal language connecting all people from all parts of the world, and my interest in contemporary topics in science has allowed me to find my identity through learning and connecting with others who share this passion.

I am currently a Nursing major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I come from a low income first generation family, who throughout time, built themselves up and became a financially comfortable, middle class family. Why am I telling you this? The transformation and hardships that I went through shaped me dramatically into the person I am now. Seeing the pain and the struggle that was present in my family made me commit to relieving the pain of others; thus, my passion is to help. The health field is in constant growth and there is something new to learn every day. There are many questions that form in the minds of individuals, and I am here to give answers. I have witnessed disease, fought through it, and vowed to triumph over it. It is my belief that knowledge is power, and here, we will all become stronger than before.

I am a dental assistant returning to school to pursue a career in dentistry. I desire to be in a field where I can help people and they can benefit from my work. I sincerely believe that knowledge is the key to success; thus, as a future dentist, I desire to spread the word about dentistry and make people more aware of dental problems and how it can affect their overall health.
